Educational Institution for an Emerging Discipline
Today I would like to feature the efforts of Token Engineering Academy, which was founded in 2020 by Angela Kreitenweis who — together with her team — have made significant contributions to the education of aspiring token engineers.
I know Angela from my time in Berlin. Her mission from the beginning was to provide free education, to grow a token engineering community and to develop this emerging discipline further — working both with practitioners and scientists. Angela has worked in early-stage startups since 2008, both at the investor and startup side. In 2018, she started running the first Berlin meetups with token projects and cryptoeconomic researchers and in 2019 she organized Token Engineering Global Gathering during Berlin Blockchain Week before she went on to create TE Academy in 2020.

TE Academy is the first educational institution of its kind dedicated to token engineering with an interdisciplinary perspective.

Foundation of TE Academy - 2022
TE Academy launched the first bachelor-level program in token engineering. It is best known for its “Token Engineering Fundamentals” course, a 5-module online course covering topics from requirements engineering to mechanism design and verification, token-based governance, engineering ethics, and more. Today, more than 4,000 students from 21 timezones are enrolled in their course, which is available for free and students can mint unique proof-of-knowledge NFTs to build their career on-chain. Given last years success, TE Academy is curating a second annual Token Engineering Track at EthCC this year on July 10 in Brussels. More details here. TE Academy also just launched new programs — the Study Season and $10K Fellowship Prize.
STUDY SEASON
Their Study Season is a new cohort-based online program dedicated to learning the fundamentals of token engineering. The Study Season program starts April 25. More information here.
FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM
The Fellowship Program is a $10K prize awarding researchers and practitioners pushing boundaries in cryptoeconomics, tokenomics, Web3 incentive design, or token-based governance and sharing their knowledge during the Study Season. PROOF-OF-KNOWLEDGE SYSTEM
Since the launch of TE Fundamentals, TE Academy has issued more than 1000 NFTs as proof of knowledge, and proof of contributions to the discipline. Students can proof their track-record on-chain, while others can monitor the development of the educational activities on-chain with publicly available data.
